Tuesday Recap

Gentlemen,

Hope everyone is safe after last nights storm. If anyone needs help let the rest of us know.  A special shout out to Aubie Knight whose text led me seek shelter.
In the near future I will be introducing a website – talkandwalkministries.com. Chris Cook has done a great job designing and building the site. It will be devoted to the bible studies I lead, including our Tuesday morning study. You will be able to find our weekly recap, post comments, post prayer concerns or pose questions. In short it will be a vehicle to stay in touch between meetings.
Tuesday we discussed Romans 8:24 – “For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees.”
We discussed the object of our hope, the process of sanctification and the effect of our faith.
Jim Jones said that our hope is in Christ. (Steve Speyer was not present or he would have made this observation)
Dan Newton reminded us that hope is based on faith. Faith is only as good as it’s object and the object of our faith is Christ. Faith in Christ is different form hoping that things will work out. Because of Christ we know that all things work together for good.
We next discussed the process of sanctification. Bob Dickson advised that if our hope is in Christ we are daily being conformed to the image of Christ. This process requires that we stay focused on Christ. Jack Miles added that we stay focused when we study His word, are faithful in prayer and join together in worship.
Finally, we discussed the effect this faith has on our lives. Sam Masters said that knowing that heaven is our destination puts lives problems in prospective. Chris Cook added that remembering His sacrifice for us makes it easier to be kind to others. If God is for us than who can be against us!
Good class. See you Tuesday morning.
