Tuesday Morning Recap

Please continue praying for Daryl Kirby. Pray for Daryl’s quick recovery and that the doctors can figure out what is wrong with him.

Tuesday we discussed Romans 8:35 “Who will separate us from the love of Christ? will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?”

What is the purpose of suffering?

Dick suggested that most of the important lessons we learn in life are the result of suffering. Without suffering we can’t become the men God would have us to be. Alleyne writes “The difficulties of life are designed to push us more deeply into God.” Bob added that during times of suffering we experience God’s love most directly.

Does your suffering draw you nearer to or drive you further from God?

Aubie said that when he has suffered he has initially felt God was far away but later felt closer to God. It is comforting to know that God is not surprised or put off by our doubts or anger. He will never leave or forsake us. We all agreed that we feel sorry for those who go through trials without Christ.

How should God’s love effect the way we treat others?

Grady advised that the deeper our faith the more loving and kind we become. Joe R. added that we need to remember that we will make mistakes. Sanctification is a process – it’s a marathon not a sprint.

Next week I will be at the beach and Bob will be leading class. I will see you when I get back.
