10 Alive Recap

Friends,

Sunday we continued our series on Moses with a discussion of Exodus 16.

Why did God provide manna to the people?
Robyn said that God provides what we need and we need food. Fran noted that God’s provision is amazing considering how much the people grumbled. God loves and provides for us even though we don’t deserve it. Bill added that God always provides but sometimes not what we expect. The people asked for bread but they got manna. God knows what we need and we must trust in what He provides.

Why did the people have to collect the manna each day and why did it spoil if they collected too much?

Laurie said that it’s all about trust. God is teaching us to depend on Him. We often say “God, we will be happy to trust you if you will show us what lies ahead.” God demands that we trust unconditionally. However, this is not as hard as it sounds. We can trust God because we have seen how much He loves and cares for us. He sacrificed His son to save us from sin.

Why did Moses save a portion of the manna?

At this time there was no bible. The people learned God’s truth through symbols. Tom pointed out that Jesus later claimed that these symbols were about Him. Jesus said “Moses didn’t give you manna it was my father in heaven.” then He added “I am the bread of life.”

Sam said that manna is like the Holy Spirit. God provides it to us every day. Eric added that the more we receive the more we see.

Next week Exodus 17. Consider the following questions:

1) This is the first time that God provides water for the people. What does God instruct Moses to do? Compare Numbers 20: 1-13.

2) How were the Amalekites defeated?

3) Why was the name of the Amalekites blotted out?

See you Sunday.

John

Chris, I agree. Tom mentioned that it is amazing how the Holy Spirit moves when we discuss the scriptures.
