Wednesday Night Recap

Wednesday we concluded our Advent series with a discussion of Isaiah 53. We will meet again on Wednesday,  January 4th to begin a new series.

“But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed.”

1) What do these verses add to your understanding of why Christ came?

Carroll said that Jesus came to die. He paid our sin debt on the cross so we can live forever.

It is easier to think of Christ a baby in a manger as opposed to a man hanging on a cross. Chris said that when we consider how much Christ did for us we realize how much we owe Him. We like to be in control of our lives and we resent Christ claim of Lordship over us. However, if we really want to live joyful lives we must surrender to His authority.

2) Why did Christ have to die?

Jack said that the sacrifice of the lamb of God was the only thing that could pay for mankind’s sin.

It is humbling to consider the price Christ paid for us. It is amazing to consider how much He values relationship with us. Truly His death and resurrection are the best Christmas present you will ever receive.

Have a merry Christmas and happy New Year. I will see you on the 4th.
