Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we began a series on 2 Timothy. Our text was 2 Timothy 1:1-7.

1) Why are Christian friendships different from other friendships?

Joe noted that most secular friendships are based on shared experiences or affiliations. Once the the season in life is passed the friendships tend to fade.

Aubie said that Christian friendship is based on more than common experiences. The foundation of Christian friendship is love of Christ. (more…)

I missed being with you Sunday but we had a great time at Disney and all completed the Family Fun Run. Jamie did great in the 1/2 marathon.

Thanks to dad for leading class.

Sunday we will continue our Lent Study.

Wednesday we continued our discussion of the prayers of Jesus with a discussion of Matthew 6:13.

“And lead us not into temptation, But deliver from evil.”

1) Why are we led into temptation?

Gentlemen,

Thanks to Zeke for hosting a great party Tuesday night. We will take up an offering next week to help Zeke cover his costs.

Tuesday morning we concluded our series on the difficult sayings of Jesus with a discussion of Acts 1:1-11.

1) What is the restoration of Israel?

Aubie said it is the second coming. Jesus will come and set up His kingdom on earth.

Jesus had been with His disciples for forty days following the resurrection. This had been a wonderful time of teaching and fellowship. They wanted this special time to continue. However, Jesus had work for them to do. (more…)

What a great night we shared Sunday. Thanks to Bill and Annie for hosting and for coming up with a game that allowed us to learn more about each other. I had no idea our class was made up of so many interesting and talented people.

Sunday morning we concluded our series on creation. Our text was Genesis 3.

1) Why did Nicodemus come to Jesus at night?

Tuesday, February 21 we will be gathering at Zeke’s cabin for a time of fellowship and good food. The party starts at 6:30.

Tuesday we continued our series on Jesus difficult sayings with a discussion of Matthew 22:15-22.

The Herodians try to trap Jesus by asking if they should pay taxes to Caesar.

1) What was the trap the Herodians were setting for Jesus?

Bob said they want Him to pick a side. If Jesus says people should pay the tax He will alienate the Jews who despise the Romans and their taxes. If Jesus says not to pay the tax then the Romans will brand Him a revolutionary. (more…)
