Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we continued our study of 2 Timothy with a discussion of chapter two verses 20-26.

Paul writes that Christians are like vessels. We should consecrate ourselves so that we can be used by the Master.

1) How do we consecrate ourselves?

Dan L. said that consecration involves removing sin from our lives. We can’t be used by God when we are living sinful lives. Since our old sin nature is ever present we must remember to confess our sin.

Bob said that consecration involves more than refraining from sin. We must do good. Doing good requires that we obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit.

Jack noted that consecration also requires an active prayer life. We can’t know what we need to repent of or God’s will if we don’t spend time in His presence.

2) How do we persuade others?

Paul writes “and the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kindly to every one, an apt teacher, forbearing, correcting his opponents with gentleness.”

Terry said that we need to show people we care before they will care about what we know.

Paul added that we are not expected to be able to argue advanced theology. We simply need to share our testimony. No one can argue with what God has done for us.

Next week 2 Timothy 3:1-9. Consider the following questions:

1) How can we tell a counterfeit teacher from someone who teaches truth?

2) Why are people easily misled?

See you Tuseday.

John
