10 Alive Recap

Sunday we finished our Jonah series.

1) What lesson does Jonah learn?

Robyn noted that at the end of the book we find Jonah as we did at the beginning — complaining. She wonders if he has learned anything.

We agreed that if we aren’t careful we can be like Jonah. We are quick to complain when things aren’t going the way we want. We expect God to quickly meet our needs but are full of excuses when He calls on us to do something.

God has compassion for everyone. He desires all to come to a saving knowledge of His son. He expects us to share His love of others and to always be ready to give a reason for the hope that lies within us.

Jonah reluctantly did what God asked but he didn’t have the proper attitude. We should strive to see others as God sees them — people worthy of His son’s sacrifice.

Next week we begin a series on Jesus’¬†hearings. Our first text will be John 9. Consider the following questions:

1) Why do the disciples assume the man was born blind? Why does Jesus say the man was blind?

2) Why are the Jews upset?

3) What does this healing teach us about God?

See you Sunday.
