Wednesday we continued our series on prayer with a discussion of Ephesians 3:14-19.

“And I pray that you being rooted and established in love, may have the power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”

1) What does it mean to be filled with the love of Christ?

Tom said that it means to have the mind of Christ. We should value what He values and do what He would do. In His earthly ministry Jesus never missed an opportunity to love. We should do the same.

Jack noted that we could never hope to do this on our own. We must rely on the Holy Spirit.

Joe added that we have all experienced the love of Christ. He has seen it most clearly in the miraculous healing of his daughter.

2) What would change about your prayer life if you took this prayer seriously?

We once again noted that rather than praying for the immediate needs of the Ephesians Paul prays for their spiritual needs. If the love of Christ dwells in you there is nothing that can defeat you.

Anne added that we must always be ready to act when prompted by the Spirit.

2) Why should we specifically pray for the saints?

3) What is your reaction to Paul’s prayer request?
