10 Alive Recap

It was great to be back with you Sunday!  Thanks to all who filled in while I was on vacation(s).

Sunday we continued our series on the healings of Jesus with a discussion of Mark 2:1-12.

“And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, ‘My son, your sins are forgiven.'”

1) What type of healing were the paralytic’s friends hoping for?

Jim said they wanted their friend to be healed physically. He added that they were probably tired of taking care of him. Others disagreed with Jim’s conclusion. (thankfully)

Bill noted that Jesus always gives us what we need not what we want. Bill added that perhaps the man got what he wanted and needed. It was the scribes that questioned what Jesus did not the paralytic.

Jack advised that we can accept what Jesus provides because He always has our best interest at heart.

2) What was the purpose of the healing?

Jesus healed the man physically so He could prove His authority to heal spiritually. Only God has the ability to forgive sins. Jesus is claiming to be God.

Tom said that Jesus actions demand a response — we can worship Him or crucify Him.

Nancy noted that God does care about our immediate needs but is more concerned with our eternal souls.

Next week Matthew 8:5-13. Consider the following questions:

1) Why is Jesus impressed with the ceturion’s faith?

2) Who will sit at Abraham’s table and why will they be there?

See you Sunday.
