Tuesday Morning Recap

Tuesday we continued our study of Galatians with a discussion of 4:21-31.

“So, brethren, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman.”

1) Paul claims Isaac was born through a promise. What does that mean?

God made many promises to Abraham.

Jed said God promised Abraham would be the father of a great nation.

Dan L.  said Abraham would have many decedents.

Aubie said that God promised that salvation would come to all people through Abraham’s seed. This promise was to be confirmed by Sarah giving birth to a son — Isaac.

2) What does it mean to be a child of Isaac?

All believers are the spiritual seed of Abraham. In the old testament the Jews were the ones who were God’s witnessing agents on earth. Christ was the long promised Messiah. The Jews rejected their Messiah. As a result the Church is now God’s witnessing agent.

3) Paul says that we have been set free. What does that mean?

Jack said we have been set free from sin.

Grady noted that we have been set free from anxiety and worry.

Jesus wants us to live abundant lives — lives of joy and meaning. We can have that life any time we choose. All we need do is yield to Him.

Next week Galatians 5:1-12. Consider the following questions:

1)  How does legalism hinder our walk?

2) How does legalism ‘remove the stumbling block of the cross?

See you Tuesday.
