Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we continued our series on Paul’s letter to the Galatians with a discussion of 5:1-12.

“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”

1) How does legalism hinder our walk?

Ronny said that when we believe we can earn our salvation we become proud. We can’t become the men God would have us to be until we humble ourselves before Him.

Jack added that spiritual growth depends on our relying on the power of the Holy Spirit.

2) How does legalism remove the ‘offense of the cross’?

Bob D. said we are saved by faith alone in Christ alone. If we believe we can earn our salvation we will constantly be feeling one of two ways — guilty because we fall short or superior to those who stumble. Claiming the power of the cross means freedom from the power of sin.

Next week Galatians 5:12-15. Consider the following questions:

1) What does it mean to ‘use our freedom as an opportunity for the flesh’?

2) How could we be consumed by one another?

See you Tuesday.

John
