Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we met at Perk for a time of fellowship. It’s always great to spend time together in a social setting.

Next week we start a series based on the book ‘Forgotten God’ by Francis Chan. Books can be purchased from the  the Methodist church or ordered from Amazon.

Next week we will discuss the introduction and Chapter One.

This will be a great study. I look forward to seeing you back at the Farm Bureau Building Tuesday morning at 7 a. m.

10 Alive Recap

Friends,

Sunday we continued our series on Jesus’ healings. Our text was Luke 19:1-10.

“And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, ‘Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.’ So he hurried and came down and received him joyfully.”

1) Who received the healing?

Zacchaeus received salvation but he was not the only one to be healed (more…)

Wednesday Night Recap

Friends,

Wednesday we continued our series on James with a discussion of Lesson Seven — Sowing Seeds of Peace.

1) How would you describe ‘worldly wisdom’?

We discussed the fact that people can have ‘book smarts’ yet not be wise. The Bible says that fear of the Lord is the begging of wisdom. Therefore, unless we have a proper understanding of who God is and our relationship with Him we can never be wise.  (more…)

Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we concluded our Galatians series. I believe it spurred some of our best discussion.

Next week we will take a break from study and meet for a time of fellowship at Perk. It would be a good time to invite a friend.

See you Tuesday at Perk.

Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we continued our Galatians series with a discussion of 6:1-10.

“Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Look to yourself, lest you to be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law Christ.”

1) How are we to restore each other?

Bob noted that it is important to be able to identify trespasses. Trespass is sin but most fall into sin gradually. We must have the type of relationships that allow us to correct each other before we get to far off track. (more…)

Wednesday Night Recap

Wednesday night we continued our James series with a discussion of lesson five ‘How Faith Works’

“What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works?” James 2:14

1) Why is faith without works dead?

This question sparked a good discussion. We agreed that we are saved by faith alone in Christ alone. (more…)

Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we continued our Galatians study with a discussion of 5:16-26.

“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”

1) Why are the desires of the flesh against the Spirit?

Last week we discussed the fact that in our flesh we can do nothing to please God. Both our bad and good deeds are done out of pride or selfish ambition. We want to go our own way even though it leads to sorrow and destruction. Yet God has placed Himself inside us in the form of the Holy Spirit. He gave us the power to live lives of joy and significance. All we have to do is choose to live out of the Spirit. (more…)
