10 Alive Recap

Sunday we continued our series on the healings of Jesus with a discussion of Luke 17:11-19.

“Then Jesus said,’Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?’ And he said to him, ‘Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.'”

1) Why does Like include this healing in his gospel?

Robyn said that Luke wanted to show the importance of gratitude. When we are in need we are quick to ask God for help and we are quick to promise to give Him the credit and praise if He gives what we ask. However, when a miracle occurs we are quick to forget to give thanks. Indeed, we often find other explanations for what happened  (i e I had a skilled doctor or I was lucky) Luke wants us to understand that every blessing we received is due to the grace of God and we should give Him all the thanks and praise.

2) What does Jesus mean when He says ‘your faith has made you well’?

Bill noted that the healing happened before the man could present himself to the priests, therefore, he gave thanks before the healing was confirmed. His actions demonstrate a tremendous amount of faith.

Nancy reminded us of our sister Nell and how she demonstrated her faith in the healing power of Jesus after she fell from a ladder. Nell accepted the healing before it was confirmed.

Jack said we can rest in the knowledge that our God will always do what is best for us.

Next week Luke 19:1-10. Consider the following questions:

1) Who received healing?

2) What caused the healing?

See you Sunday.
