Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we continued our series on Francis Chan’s book ‘Forgotten God’ with a discussion of chapter three ‘Theology of the Holy Spirit 101’

Chan begins by noting that  “…theology is still important — what you believe absolutely determines how you act.” p. 64

We discussed a number of biblical truths about the Holy Spirit:

1) The Holy Spirit is God

2) The Holy Spirit is a person

3) The Holy Spirit is eternal and holy

4) The Holy Spirit has His own mind, and He prays for us

5) The Holy Spirit has emotions

6) The Holy Spirit has His own desires and will

7) The Holy Spirit is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient

We also discussed the promises in the Bible pertaining to the Holy Spirit. Chan encourages us study these promises;

“I have benefited so much from taking each of these promises literally, meditating on them, and asking for them. Take time to dwell on each one. Consider how each one is manifest in your life; and if it isn’t, spend some time asking God for that specific thing.” p. 74

Next week chapter four ‘Why do you want Him”

See you Tuesday.

John
