Gentlemen,

Tuesday we begin a new series based on Alleyne Wommack’s daily devotional ‘Portions from Philippians’

The book contains 31 devotionals. Read a devotional each day and on Tuesday we will discuss the six devotionals we read that week.

Tom Wommack donated the devotionals to the group and I have plenty of copies. I will have them on Tuesday for all who need one.

Tuesday we will discuss the first six devotionals. pp 1 – 13.

Friends,

Wednesday we discussed chapter three of Esther.

“And all king’s servants who were at the king’s gate bowed down and did obeisance to Haman; for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai did not bow down or do obeisance.”

1) Why did Haman hate Mordecai?

Anne advised that Mordecai’s faith would not allow him to bow to any man. Mordecai was not singling Haman out. However, Haman didn’t see it that way. (more…)

Sunday we begin a study based on Francis Chan’s book ‘Crazy Love.’

Chapter one is titled ‘Stop Praying.’

Take a look at the ‘Awe Factor’ at www.crazylovebook.com Chan wants us to gain a new appreciation of the majesty and power of God while at the same time appreciating how weak and insignificant we are.

I’m sure we will discuss many aspects of this chapter one Sunday but let’s begin with the question which Chan poses:

Can you worship a God who isn’t obligated to explain His actions to you?

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we discussed chapter six of ‘Forgotten God’ — ‘Forget About His Will for Your Life’

Chan believes that the phrase ‘God’s will for my life’ can become an excuse for inaction. “It’s much less demanding to think about God’s will for your future than it is to ask Him what He wants you to do in the next ten minutes. It’s safer to commit to following someday instead of this day.” p 120. (more…)

Wednesday we began a series on Esther. Our text was chapter one.

1) What did the queen do to offend the King?

Anne said that she refused to come when the King summoned her. We agreed that she was correct not to come but her refusal left the King with a problem. His commands were the law of the land and the Queen’s refusal to obey threatened the King’s power and the social order. (more…)

Tuesday we discussed chapter five of ‘Forgotten God’ — ‘A Real Relationship’

“…there’s nothing better than being absolutely sure that the most powerful Being in the universe adores you as His own child. This is precisely the confidence the Holy Spirit offers us.”

Chan helped me realize that it is the Holy Spirit who gives us confidence of the intimacy we enjoy with our Creator. (more…)
