Gentlemen,

Tuesday we concluded our series on ‘Portions from Philippians.’ Next Tuesday we will meet at Perk for a time of fellowship. The following week we begin a series on Hope. We will be reading passages in the bible about hope and discussing the object of our hope and what effect hope has on how we live.

We discussed many of Alleyne’s devotions over the past weeks. We were amazed and touched by her insights and the depth of her faith in the midst of suffering. My favorite was titled ‘Flying Above the Clouds’ p 58 (more…)

Friends,

Sunday we continued our series on Francis Chan’s book ‘Crazy Love.’ We discussed chapter six ‘When Your Love.’

Chan begins this chapter by admitting that the previous chapters may have left readers with a feelings of fear and guilt. Chan believes that fear and guilt will not lead to a person to a deeper walk with Christ. Actions motivated by fear and guilt may help the poor and lost but leave the actor with a sense of anger and resentment. (more…)

We discussed the power of love.

Wednesday Night Recap

Friends,

Wednesday we discussed chapter five of Esther.

1) What did Esther plan to do?

In law school I learned that you never ask a witness a question unless you already know the answer. Esther is making requests of the king that she knows will be granted. She is ensuring the protection of  her people and the destruction of her enemy. Esther is setting Haman up — literally giving him enough to hang himself. (more…)
