10 Alive Recap

Sunday we discussed chapter three — ‘Crazy Love’

Chan writes that early in life he was ambivalent toward God. “I had no aspiration of being wanted by God; I was just happy not to be hated or hurt by Him.” p 54

Chan’s view of God was largely due to the relationship Chan had with his father.

Chan came to realize that we love God because He first loved us.

“The word of the Lord came to me saying, ‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as prophet to the nations.'”

Chan calls God’s love for us crazy because we don’t deserve it nor can we earn it.

The greatest knowledge we can ever have is knowing that God treasures us. He wants us to succeed and will ensure our success in accordance with His plan.

Next week chapter four ‘Profile of the Lukewarm.’  Consider the following questions:

1) Chan believes that Christ is interested in those who ‘fake it.’ What does Chan mean and do you agree?

2) Chan writes that to be a true follower of Christ you must be in good soil. What is good soil and are you in it?

3) What are the characteristics of a lukewarm Christian?

See you Sunday.
