10 Alive Recap

Sunday we continued our series on Francis Chan’s book ‘Crazy Love.’ We discussed chapter six ‘When Your Love.’

Chan begins this chapter by admitting that the previous chapters may have left readers with a feelings of fear and guilt. Chan believes that fear and guilt will not lead to a person to a deeper walk with Christ. Actions motivated by fear and guilt may help the poor and lost but leave the actor with a sense of anger and resentment.

Christ wants us to reach out to the lost and needy because we love Christ. Chan writes:

“When you are pursing love, running toward Christ, you do not have opportunity to wonder, Am I doing this right? or Did I serve enough this week? When you are running toward Christ, you are freed up to serve, love, and give thanks without guilt, worry, or fear. As long as you are running, you are safe.” p 104

At the end of chapter six Chan asks us to test God. “give more than you can imagine and see how He responds.” p 110

Next week chapter seven ‘Your Best Life Later.’ Consider the following questions:

1) Chan claims that most Christians like to play it safe. However, if we truly desire to please God we have to do things that cost us. What dose this mean to you?

2) How would your life change if you saw every person as Christ?

3) Chan claims that Jesus wants us to put ourselves in situations where we will be in trouble if He doesn’t come through. Do you agree and are you putting yourself in those situations?

See you Sunday.
