10 Alive Recap

Sunday we began a new series where we will discuss our favorite bible verses. Each week a member of the class will select a verse or verses and we will discuss them the following week. We will ask the same three questions of each text.

1) What does this verse teach us about God?

2) What does it teach us about people?

3) What does it teach us about the relationship between God and people?

We began with Philippians 4:4-7.

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say Rejoice. Let all men know your forbearance. The Lord is at hand. Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

These verses teach that God wants a close relationship with us. He knows our needs before we ask and delights in providing for us.

God will never leave us — He is always near.

He wants us to be in constant communication with us

In sum, God loves us more than we will ever be able to understand this side of heaven.

These verses teach that it is natural for us to worry and that without God we will be in a constant state of anxiety. With God peace replaces worry.

We will never be able to meet our needs as well as God. As we often say “If it isn’t God’s will for your life, you don’t want it.”

These verse teach that we were created to be in relationship with God and that we will never know our true potential outside of Him. We will never experience abundance outside of Him. Without God we are lost moving from one thing to the next trying to find happiness.

Next week Philippians 2:12-13.

See you Sunday.
