Wednesday Night Recap

Wednesday we continued our series on the I Am sayings of Jesus. Our text was John 10.

“I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me.”

What does this chapter tell us about God?

God wants a personal relationship with us.

God knows what is best for us and He will provide for our needs. He provides for our ultimate need by laying down His life for us. Without His sacrifice we could never enter heaven. Because of His sacrifice we can receive the reward He earned. As we discussed the one thing Jesus had after the cross that He didn’t have before is you.

What does this chapter tell us about ourselves?

Like sheep we are easily lead astray. We follow our desires and they lead us into trouble.

We don’t have the ability to┬ásurvive on our own. Without the shepherd we would perish.

Once we are claimed by the shepherd we can never again be lost.

What does this chapter tell us about the relationship between God and man?

We are deeply loved by a God who will never leave us or forsake us. If we allow Him to lead, if we follow His word He will lead us to the lives we have always wanted. Lives of significance — free of stress and worry.

Next week we stay in the 10th chapter of John. We will discuss our same three questions in light of Jesus claim that He is the gate for the sheep.

See you Wednesday.
