Wednesday Night Recap

Friends,

Wednesday we continued our study of the ‘I am’ sayings of Jesus with a discussion of John 14:1-10.

”Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me. In my father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?  And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way where I am going.

Thomas said to him, ‘Lord, we don’t know where you are going; how can we know the way?’ Jesus said to him ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me.'” (more…)

Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

I apologies for the lateness of this post. I was in Orlando over the weekend for the Disney Family Fun Run. You know you are getting old when you get whipped in a 5K by your 9 year old son.

Tomorrow we continue our hope series with a discussion of Hebrews 11:1-3, 12:1-2. Consider the following questions:

1) What do these verses and to your understanding of hope?

2) What would change about your life if you put these verses into practice?

See you in the morning.

John

10 Alive Recap

Friends,

Sunday we continued our series on our favorite bible passages with a discussion of 1 Corinthians 13.

“If I speak in the tongues of angels but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal….”

1) What does this passage teach us about God?

God gives us talents and gifts as well as the opportunity to exercise them, however, if we don’t have the love of God abiding in us they are of no benefit to us. The use of our gifts will benefit others but we remain lost if we aren’t filled with grace. With grace our gifts glorify God and lead us deeper into the abundant life God intends for us. (more…)

Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we continued our series on hope with a discussion of Psalm 33:20-22.

“Yea, our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name, Let thy steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in thee.”

1) Why is it so hard to wait on the Lord?

We live in an ‘instant’ culture. Smart phones provide instant access to information around the world.  We want what we want when we want it!  Deferred gratification is an idea whose time has past. Therefore, it is not surprising that we define patience in terms of hours, not days or years. (more…)

1) What does this passage teach us about God?

He has empowered us to accomplish His will here on earth. He wants us to be passionate about the things that He is passionate about. We are to spread the gospel, stand for truth and help the poor. (more…)

Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we continued our series on  hope with a discussion of Hebrews 10:19-25.

“Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way which he opened for us through the curtain that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”

1) What is the power of the blood? (more…)
