Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we continued our series on  hope with a discussion of Hebrews 10:19-25.

“Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way which he opened for us through the curtain that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”

1) What is the power of the blood?

By His blood we have total and complete access to the father. We can enter into His presence not in fear but with confidence. What worries you? What do you wish to change? Bring your petitions to your father He is waiting to hear from you.

2) How can we reach our potential?

There are many answers to this question but our text suggests that we will never become the men God wants us to be without being part of community.

We are to encourage one another to love and good works. God has gifted each of us and given us opportunities to exercise those gifts. This text teaches that our Christian friends are uniquely equipped to help us discover our gifts and encourage us to use them.

In addition our friends help us to understand the mysteries of faith. I often learn more from your questions and observations than from my preparation for class. Your knowledge and acts of service help me to more completely understand Christ and what it means to be His child.

Next week Ephesians 1: 15-23. Consider the following questions:

1) What are the riches of His glorious inheritance?

2) What is the power His hope?

See you Tuesday.

John
