Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we continued our series on hope with a discussion of Psalm 33:20-22.

“Yea, our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name, Let thy steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in thee.”

1) Why is it so hard to wait on the Lord?

We live in an ‘instant’ culture. Smart phones provide instant access to information around the world. ¬†We want what we want when we want it! ¬†Deferred gratification is an idea whose time has past. Therefore, it is not surprising that we define patience in terms of hours, not days or years.

But the psalmist writes that we must be patient and wait on the Lord. To do this we must be conformed by our knowledge of God not by our culture.

2) What is the connection between love and hope?

It is the love of God that allows us to hope — to wait for His good and perfect will to be made manifest.

God demonstrated His love by sending His son to die for us. Therefore, the belief that He will provide is not a vain hope it is a certainty.

Next week Philippians 4:4-7. Consider the following questions:

1) Why do we rejoice?

2) Where do we find the power to overcome circumstance?

3) What do we gain from hope?

See you Tuesday.

John
