Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

The Lord is Risen! I hope all had a wonderful Easter and are ready to get back to bible study.

Tuesday we begin a new series on Joseph. We will examine how Joseph came to faith and how God worked in Joseph’s life. I hope we can come to a new appreciation of how God works in our lives.

Our first text will be Genesis 37. Consider the following questions:

1) How would you describe Joseph?

2) How would you describe the family dynamic?

3) How is God working in the lives of Joseph and his family?

See you Tuesday.

Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we continued our series on hope with a discussion of John 20:1-10.

1) Why does John believe but Peter did not?

Bob pointed out that the text reads John believed but doesn’t expressly state that Peter didn’t believe. The gospels reveal that both John and John have moments of clarity followed by times of confusion and doubt. Indeed, the parenthetical in the text indicates that although John believed he did not fully understand the significance of the resurrection. (more…)

Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we continued our series on hope. As Easter draws near we have begun focusing on scriptures dealing with the Resurrection. Our text Tuesday was John 20:24-29.

“Jesus said to him, ‘Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.'”

For years this passage has been used to admonish those who demand proof before they believe. We refer to them as a ‘doubting Thomas.’ (more…)

“…then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore, comfort one another with these words.”

1) Why does this passage offer hope? (more…)

10 Alive Recap

Friends,

Sunday we continued our series on our favorite bible passages with a discussion of John 3:1-8.

1) what does this passage teach us about God?

God requires all to be born again. God is holy and he can’t be in the presence of sin, therefore, if we are to fellowship with Him we must be free of sin. Of course it is impossible for us to wash away our sin through our own efforts. That we be like a man trying to lift a bucket while standing in it. God removed our sin by placing it on His son. We can be in His presence if we believe. (more…)

Wednesday Night Recap

Friends,

Wednesday we continued our series on Jesus ‘I am’ sayings with a discussion of John 15:1-11.

“I am the true vine and my Father is the vine dresser. Every branch of mine that bears fruit he takes away and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes that it may bear more fruit.”

1) What does this passage teach us about God?

God wants us to bear fruit. We bear fruit when we serve others with the gifts God gave us. (more…)
