10 Alive Recap

Friends,

Sunday we continued our series on our favorite bible passages with a discussion of John 3:1-8.

1) what does this passage teach us about God?

God requires all to be born again. God is holy and he can’t be in the presence of sin, therefore, if we are to fellowship with Him we must be free of sin. Of course it is impossible for us to wash away our sin through our own efforts. That we be like a man trying to lift a bucket while standing in it. God removed our sin by placing it on His son. We can be in His presence if we believe.

This tells us that we worship a loving God who paid a terrific price to be with us. Talk about a self-esteem booster!

2) What does this passage teach us about people?

For those who believe experience the fullness of life. That is not to say life is easy but that we have a purpose and the knowledge that we aren’t alone.

Many will refuse grace. They will chase idols in an attempt to find love and meaning. The sad thing is that they don’t have to live that way.

3) What does this passage teach us about the relationship between God and people?

God gives us a choice. New birth into abundant life or to stay in darkness.

In the end God does’t send anyone to hell. We choose hell.

Next week John 1:1.

See you Sunday.

John
