Wednesday we discussed grace. Our text was Romans 3:21-28.

1) Why do we need to be justified?

We were designed to want relationship with God. Those who don’t know God spend their lives trying to justify themselves. Men tend to chase idols like money and power while women can make idols of relationships and family. (more…)

 

Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we discussed Genesis 41. Joseph is released from prison and promoted to Prime minister.

1) Why did God chose this moment to promote Joseph?

Chris noted that Joseph was ready to give God all the glory. Up to this point Joseph had used his gifts to glorify himself.  At this time he gives the credit to God and lets the chips fall where they may. (more…)

Sunday we continued our series on troubling bible passages with a discussion of Exodus 4:18-26.

1) What is the purpose of circumcision?

It was a procedure established by God to set His people apart from other nations. Israel was God’s witnessing agent on earth for thousands of years. They were the ones God chose to tell others of His holiness and love.

Wednesday Night Recap

Friends,

Wednesday we continued discussing topics selected by the class. Our focus was the trinity.

The word ‘trinity’ does not appear in the Bible, however, the concept is clearly taught. Our text was Mark 1:9-13. In this passage the son, is baptized and the Spirit descends on the Son while the voice of the father is heard from heaven. This text establishes the three parts of the trinity — Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (more…)

 

Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we continued our Joseph series with a discussion of chapter 40.

The Lord continues to bless Joseph while he is in prison. Joseph is placed in charge of the prison and correctly interprets the dreams of two of pharaohs officials. One is restored to service and the other is hung.

Joseph believes that his time of deliverance is at hand and asks pharaoh’s servant to put in a good word for Joseph. However, Joseph continues to languish in prison.

Friends,

Sunday we continued our discussion of end times. Our text was Daniel 9:25-27.

This prophecy breaks into three parts:

First, at the end of 69 weeks (Better translated as 69 periods of 7) from the decree to rebuild the city of Jerusalem, Messiah will come to Jerusalem. Neh. 2:1-8 records that this decree was issued by King Artaxerxes in month of Nisan in the 20th year of his reign. (more…)

Sunday we began a new series where we discuss passages of scripture that trouble us or that we  question. Our first discussion was about the Olivet discourse — Matthew 24:1-44.

The disciples ask Jesus two questions: When will the temple be destroyed (which they assume means the end of the world) and what will be the sign of Jesus second coming? (more…)

 

Wednesday Night Recap

Friends,

Wednesday we began a new series where you choose the topics we discuss.

Our first topic was unconditional love. And our text was Matthew 22:1-14 — the parable of the wedding banquet.

Robyn noted that the banquet represents heaven and the  Jews were the original invited guests. Jesus was the long awaited Jewish Messiah and He offered His gospel first to the Jews. It is only after the Jews reject Him that Jesus offers Himself to the gentiles. (more…)
