10 Alive Recap

Sunday we continued our discussion of end times. Our text was Daniel 9:25-27.

This prophecy breaks into three parts:

First, at the end of 69 weeks (Better translated as 69 periods of 7) from the decree to rebuild the city of Jerusalem, Messiah will come to Jerusalem. Neh. 2:1-8 records that this decree was issued by King Artaxerxes in month of Nisan in the 20th year of his reign.

Since the Jewish month has 30 days there are 360 days in a year. This means that Messiah will come to Jerusalem in 173,880 days or March A D 33.

This explains why the Jewish leaders were looking for Messiah  at the time of Jesus earthly ministry.

Second, after 69 weeks but before the 70th week Messiah will be cut off and the Temple destroyed. Jesus was crucified in A D 33 and the temple destroyed by the Emperor Titus in A D 70.

Finally, the last 7 weeks correspond with the 7 years described in the book of Revelation. The break between the 69th and 70th week was a mystery kept from Daniel and the other prophets but revealed by Jesus to His disciples. (Acts 1:6-7) The church age, the age in which we are living, takes place between the 69th and 70th week.

As we discussed last week, I believe the rapture of the church will happen before the 70th week. Jesus says that the coming of the rapture will come as unexpectedly as the flood in Noah’s time.

What a glorious day that will be! In the mean time we should preach the gospel and love others every chance we get.

Next week Exodus 4:18-26.

1) Why was circumcision so important to God?

2) Why did God want to kill Moses?

See you Sunday.
