Friends,

Tonight we discuss the truth of scripture. Our text will be 2 Timothy 3:14-17.

2) How can we know the Bible is true?

See you tonight.

10 Alive Recap

Friends,

My brother Jim will be attending class this week. He wants to thank us for our support of Apostle Productions and update us on what God is doing through Jim’s ministry. We will also be continuing our series on Gideon.

Last week we discussed why the Israelites needed a judge.

Bill said that without leadership the Jews had lost their way. They forgot God and began to worship other gods. We discussed how fickle the people appeared to be. Why weren’t they loyal to the one who had led them out of slavery in Egypt and given them a new land? (more…)

Wednesday Night Recp

Friends,

Wednesday we discussed miracles. Our text was John 11:1-44.

“Therefore, many of the Jews, who had come to visit Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, put their faith in him.”

1) Why did Jesus raise Lazarus?

We agreed that this miracle meant a great deal to Mary and Martha. They were devastated by the death of their brother. Jesus gave their brother back to them. However, all three would later die. Therefore, the purpose of the miracle was not exclusively about physical healing. (more…)

Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we continued our series on Joseph with a discussion of Chapter 44.

Joseph continues to test his brothers and they are feeling the heat.

“So now, if the boy is not with us when I go back to your servant my father and if my father, whose life is closely bound up with the boy’s life sees that the boy isn’t there, he will die.” (more…)

10 Alive Recap

Friends,

Happy Mothers Day to all our moms. And a special Happy Mothers Day to mine!

Sunday we discussed  Mark 10:13-16.

1)Why were children drawn to Jesus?

Children are quick to pick up on people who are mean or strident. Jesus must have been the type of man who knew how to have fun and was willing to engage children. Children, therefore were drawn to Him.

2) Why did the disciples admonish the parents who were bringing their children to Jesus? (more…)

Wednesday Night Recap

Friends,

Wednesday we continued our discussion of topics that interest us. Our topic last Wednesday was the Holy Spirit and our text was John 16:7-15.

The Holy Spirit preforms many functions but the ones addressed in our text were to to draw a distinction between the value system of the world and God’s values. (more…)

Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we continued our discussion of Joseph. Our text was Genesis 43.

Joseph’s brothers are convinced they are being punished for what they did to their brother. They do not know they are being tested by Joseph. (more…)

10 Alive Recap

Friends,

Sunday we continued our series on difficult bible passages with a discussion of Hebrews 10:26-27.

“If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgement and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.”

Most of us agree that we are secure in our salvation — Once saved always saved. So what are we to do with passages like Hebrews 10:26-27 ? (more…)

Wednesday Night Recap

Friends,

Please pray for Bunnie and Jim as Bunnie recovers from heart difficulties.

I was a little late Wednesday but enjoyed the time we spent together. Thanks to dad for leading the first part of class.

Wednesday we discussed creation. Our text was John 1:1-5

“Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” (more…)

Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we continued our Joseph series with a discussion of Genesis 42.

There was major dysfunction in Joseph’s family. Much of it caused by the sins of Joseph’s father. God is using Joseph to test his brothers and father to see if they have changed. If they have not changed Joesph will help them see the error of their ways and return to a healthy God fearing life.

We discussed how we all have baggage we carry around. God places people in our path who can help us to release the past and live in freedom. Of course we can only find these friends within the body of Christ.

Next week we continue our study of Joseph with a discussion of chapter 43. Consider the following questions:

1) What does this chapter teach us about God?

2) What does this chapter teach us about how God works in our lives?

See you Tuesday.

John
