Wednesday Night Recap

Friends,

Wednesday we continued our discussion of topics that interest us. Our topic last Wednesday was the Holy Spirit and our text was John 16:7-15.

The Holy Spirit preforms many functions but the ones addressed in our text were to to draw a distinction between the value system of the world and God’s values.

The Holy spirit convicts the world of guilt in regard to sin, righteous and judgement. We were born in sin and there is nothing good in us. We are made righteous by the blood of Christ. There is a heaven and there will be a judgement in spite of  what the world believes.

The Holy Spirit always points to Christ and the truth o f His word.

The world says that truth is relative. Grady called this ‘situational ethics.’ There is no need for a savior because people don’t need to be saved. They must decide for themselves what is right and wrong. It is important to note that unbelievers can be some of the best and most moral people you meet. Christian’s can be some of the worse. However, only the Holy Spirit can transform your heart and make you like Christ.

You can’t live a life of significance without the indwelling Spirit.

Next week the purpose of miracles. Our text will be John 11:1-44. Consider the following question:

1) Why did Jesus raise Lazarus?

See you Wednesday.

John
