10 Alive Recap

Friends,

Sunday we continued our series on Gideon with a discussion of Judges 7:1-8.

Gideon raised an army but it was too large for God to use.

‘The people with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand….”

God had too reduce the size of the army from 32,000 to 300. Why? (more…)

Wednesday Night Recap

Friends,

Wednesday we discussed Melchizdek. Our texts were Genesis 14:18-20 and Hebrews 7:11-17.

Melchizedek was a Kingly Priest who was not of the Levitical line.

We discussed the role of the old testament priest. He was to represent the people before God. The priest would submit the peoples offerings to God and make sacrifices on behalf of the people. People did not have access to God. (more…)

Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we continue our series on Joseph with a discussion of Genesis 49.

There is much to discuss in the blessings Jacob gives each of his sons and we can talk about those blessings tomorrow, however, I would like to address verses 28-33.

1) What will your legacy be?

2) When you consider those who have had the greatest impact on you what characteristics do they share?

3) How can we ensure that we leave the best possible legacy?

See you tomorrow.

10 Alive Recap

Friends,

Chris Cook has used his talent (The $10 given by the church) to create two amazing paintings. He will have them in class tomorrow. He is holding a silent auction for paintings with the proceeds going to the church. I’m sure everyone will want to submit a bid.

Tomorrow we will continue our series on Gideon with a discussion of 7:1-8. Consider the following questions:

1) Why did the Lord use military force to save Israel?

2) Why did the army have to be so small?

3) How has the Lord delivered you from oppression?

See you tomorrow.

Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

Tuesday we continued our series on Joseph with a discussion of Genesis 47:27-31.

“Do not bury me in Egypt, but when I rest with my fathers, carry me out of Egypt and bury me where they are buried.”

Jacob and Joseph are vital parts of God’s plan for the salvation of mankind. Indeed, God’s plan would have been impossible without their faithfulness. Yet they will not see God’s salvation this side of heaven. It will be more than 400 years before Jacob’s body will be returned to Canaan. (more…)

10 Alive Recap

Friends,

Sunday we continued our series on Gideon with a discussion of Judges 6:27-35.

1) Why Did God ask Gideon to tear down the alter to Baal?

Before he could save the people Gideon was required to tear down Baal’s alter. God knew that Gideon needed to be focused if he were going to be able to do what God requested. It is important to recall that God wanted to do more than save His people. He wanted relationship with them. This could not happen if they served other idols. (more…)

Tuesday Morning Recap

Gentlemen,

I appreciate dad filling in last week and look forward to being back with you tomorrow.

We will continue our series on Joseph and our text will be Genesis 47:27-31. Consider the following questions:

1) Why doesn’t ┬áJacob want to be buried in Egypt?

2) The text reads “Israel worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff” after Joseph promised to bury Israel with his ancestors. Why would worship be appropriate at that moment?

3) How can we maintain faith in the midst of the ordinary?

See you tomorrow.

10 Alive Recap

Friends,

Sunday we continued our series on Gideon with a discussion of Judges 6:11-27.

1) What was the first thing Gideon did when when he was called by God?

Gideon complained. He said, “If God is with us why has all this happened to us?” We agreed that like Gideon we can be self focused. We don’t like to suffer and are quick to ask God “Where were you?” When we are focused on ourselves we miss the fact that God has never left us. And that He is trying to teach us in the midst of our struggle. That is not to say that God causes our suffering. However, nothing happens to us outside of His will and He is using every circumstance to conform us to the image of His Son. (more…)
