10 Alive Recap

Sunday we continued our series on Gideon with a discussion of Judges 7:1-8.

Gideon raised an army but it was too large for God to use.

‘The people with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand….”

God had too reduce the size of the army from 32,000 to 300. Why?

The second part of verse 2 provides the answer. “…lest Israel boast over me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.'”

We discussed how easy it is to forget that we owe everything to God. God provides every blessing we receive. We wouldn’t draw our next breath but for His grace.

When we take our focus off God we find it easy to believe that we are responsible for the successes we enjoy.

God wants the Israelites to understand that He is the source of their strength and the He is greater than any problem that they face. It is amazing to consider that in spite of the problems we create for ourselves God is always ready and willing to save us if we will turn back to Him.

This week our text will be Judges 7:9-18. Consider the following questions:

1) God continues to reassure Gideon. Why?

2) How doses God reassure us when we face challenges that seem insurmountable?

See you tomorrow.
