Tuesday Morning Recap

Tuesday we continued our series on Joseph with a discussion of Genesis 47:27-31.

“Do not bury me in Egypt, but when I rest with my fathers, carry me out of Egypt and bury me where they are buried.”

Jacob and Joseph are vital parts of God’s plan for the salvation of mankind. Indeed, God’s plan would have been impossible without their faithfulness. Yet they will not see God’s salvation this side of heaven. It will be more than 400 years before Jacob’s body will be returned to Canaan.

God demands obedience but doesn’t always reveal His plans. So how do we know we can trust Him?

Relationship is based on trust. If we obey only when it make sense to us then we don’t truly trust God. However, when we trust even when it doesn’t make sense we show Him that we know He has our best interest at heart. God in turn delights in meeting our needs and conforming us into the image of His Son.

Once in heaven we know everything. On that day we will be glad for the times we trusted God rather than ourselves.

Next Tuesday we will discuss 48:11-22. Consider the following questions:

1) Why does Jacob place Manasseh ahead of Ephraim?

2) How can Jacob be so sure of the future?

3) Can we have that same certainty?

See you tomorrow.
