Wednesday Night Recap

Wednesday we discussed Melchizdek. Our texts were Genesis 14:18-20 and Hebrews 7:11-17.

Melchizedek was a Kingly Priest who was not of the Levitical line.

We discussed the role of the old testament priest. He was to represent the people before God. The priest would submit the peoples offerings to God and make sacrifices on behalf of the people. People did not have access to God.

Jesus came as our High Priest, ┬áKing and Sacrifice. Therefore, we no longer need a priest to represent us before God. Jesus’ sacrifice made us right with God and there is no longer a need for sacrifices. We can walk boldly into the throne room of grace and make petition of God.

We spent the rest of our time discussing how fortunate we are that we have this amazing relationship with God. We must be careful not to take it for granted.

Like the old testament priests we are now God’s representatives on earth. We must proclaim His truth to the world. We agreed that we could do a better job witnessing and that it is important to be reminded of our duty and responsibility.

Next week we discuss Sabbath rest. Our texts will be Exodus 20:8-11 and Matthew 12: 1-8. Consider the following questions:

1) What is the purpose of the Sabbath?

2) How are we to observe the Sabbath?

See you tonight.
