Wednesday Night Recap

Friends,

Wednesday we discussed Psalm 29.

We discussed how God’s strength brings us peace.

David writes “The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic. The voice of the Lord breaks the ceders; the Lord breaks in pieces the ceders of Lebanon.”

Anne noted that the psalm put her in mind of the power we see in a great storm.

Jack added that the ceders referenced in the psalm would have been hundreds of feet high. The readers of the psalm would have marveled at the power it would take to splinter one of those trees.

One of the points of the psalm is that God is greater than any problem we have. Only a mighty God can defeat the things that frighten us. Billy Graham was once asked if he was an optimist or a pessimist. He replied that he was an optimist because he read the last page of the bible and saw who won.

If we claim the power God has granted us, in the form of the Holy Spirit, then we can be more than conquerors of our fears. We can know the peace that passes all understanding.

Tonight we discuss Psalm 30. Consider the following questions

1) What does this psalm reveal about the character of God?

2) What do we learn about the our relationship with God?

See you tonight.

John
