Wednesday Night Recap

Last week we discussed Chris’ painting depicting Jacob wrestling with God.

Chris painted God larger than Jacob to illustrate that at any point God could have destroyed Jacob. God wrestled Jacob to teach him something. All his life Jacob had wrestled someone. First he wrestled with his brother, then his father, then his uncle and  finally with God.

God wanted Jacob to see that he really needed was God’s blessing. Like Jacob we believe that the right job, spouse, children or clothes will make us happy. However, what we really need is God.

Once blessed Jacob received a new identity. From that point on he was called Israel. When we trust Christ we, like Jacob, become a new person. If we remain in Him we live abundantly.

Tonight we will discuss the conversion of Paul. Our text will be Acts 9:1-19.

See you tonight.
