Wednesday Night Recap

Friends,

Wednesday we discussed Chapter five and Philippians 4:4-7.

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say Rejoice. Let all men know your forbearance. The Lord is at hand. Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God ,which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Miss Maudie’s house burns down and she doesn’t respond in a typical way.

Jack suggested that Miss Maudie could be a type ‘A’ person who believes that she can master any situation by the force of her will. If life hands you a lemon – make lemonade.

Joyce noted that the morning after the fire Miss Maudie is out working in what is left of her garden. Joyce believes that Miss Maudie was working out her frustrations.

Barbara believes Miss Maudie is a person of faith. As a person of faith she knows that God is in control and He can work all things together for good.

We spent a great deal of time discussing how we can find deeper peace.

Eric said we must read the bible. In addition we must meditate on what the word means. Finally we must trust His word enough to obey His commands. Only then can we truly experience God’s goodness and honestly give thanks in all circumstances.

This weeks lesson is titled ‘Here I am, send me’ We will discuss chapter nine and Mark 14:32-36.

See you Wednesday night.

John
